Parks Department

The Parks Department maintains 11 parks and over 80 acres of parkland, open space areas, wilderness, and downtown parking lots for various activities.  Uses include: playground equipment, picnicking, shelters and restrooms, trails, athletic facilities, volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, skatepark, outdoor pool, ice-skating rinks, sledding hills, and festivals.  Click here for facility rental info.

* Enjoy the beautiful scenery in Island Park & Heesakker Park while walking the Heritage Parkway Trail.  The paved asphalt trail, which is over a mile long,  connects the two parks and is accessible by everyone. The view from the scenic overlook on the bow-string pedestrian bridge connecting the parks is amazing.  A new addition off the trail is the Nelson Family Heritage Crossing, which is a 1,100 foot bicycle and pedestrian connection between Little Chute's Heesakker Park and an expanded rail trail in the City of Kaukauna.  Click HERE more details and the trail access map.

Please Note:  Park restroom facilities are open from first day of May until the last day of October each year.  Portable toilet units on the Heritage Parkway Trail are available year round.
